Description
1928-S Key Peace Dollar, MS65+
Second Finest at PCGS
Registry Set Essential
1928-S $1 MS65+ PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: MBJ. Despite a healthy
mintage of 1.6 million coins, the 1928-S Peace dollar is the least
frequently seen S-mint issue in the series in Gem and finer grades,
making it among the conditional keys if not as well-known as the
1921, the 1928, or even the 1934-S (the overall rarest issue,
condition notwithstanding) among the general collecting populace.
This high-end Gem boasts intermingled flecks of pale blue, olive,
and gold on satiny surfaces that are highly lustrous and attractive
for the grade. A small tick on Liberty's nose is well within the
confines of the grade, and the eye appeal is top-notch. This coin
is the sole MS65+ coin at PCGS, marginally surpassed by a
lone MS66 example. A piece that will be a long-term keeper even in
the finest collection. Population: 55 in 65 (1 in 65+), 1 finer
(7/15).From The DeMicco Family Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
