Description

    1934 Peace Dollar, MS66+
    Eye-Catching Multicolor Patina

1934 $1 MS66+ ★ NGC. CAC. The 1934 Peace dollar is one of the lower-mintage dates in the series, with fewer than 1 million pieces coined. Mint State survivors are not as elusive as might be assumed, as can be seen by the certified population data; examples are readily obtainable in grades through MS65, and only in MS66 does this issue become truly scarce. Moreover, finer pieces are extreme rarities, seldom available and out of reach for most collectors. This magnificent piece is arguably the single finest example within the Premium Gem grade level on grounds of both technical and aesthetic appeal; it is the only Plus-graded MS66 piece at NGC, and is also the only Star-designated coin for the grade. The eye appeal is simply astounding. The reverse is vividly colored in blended shades of orange-gold, champagne, ruby-red, and pine-green, while the obverse shows similar colors around the peripheries, with iridescent lavender-gray in the center. The strike is sharp and the surfaces are beautifully preserved with heavily frosted mint luster. Census: 39 in 66 (1 in 66+ ), 5 finer (3/15).
