1934-S Peace Dollar, MS65
VAM-3, Doubled Tiara
A Top 50 Variety

1934-S $1 Doubled Tiara, VAM-3, MS65 NGC. A Top 50 Variety. Liberty's tiara shows minute die doubling on this variety. The San Francisco Mint struck just over 1 million Peace dollars in 1934, but with the lowest Uncirculated survival rate in the series, it is the key Peace dollar issue in Mint State. Satiny luster on champagne silver surfaces produce an exceptional cartwheel effect on this attractive Gem. Tiny splashes of amber, absinthe and lavender grace both sides, ceding slightly deeper toward the edges. Abrasions are light and scattered, with only a couple visible under a loupe on Liberty's neck and on the eagle. All varieties considered, NGC reports only 17 numerically finer pieces (10/25). This is one of the finer examples of the VAM-3 variety we have handled recently.
