Description

Brilliant Gem 1934-S Dollar, Ex: Jack Lee

1934-S $1 MS 66 PCGS. Ex: Jack Lee I, Jack Lee II. While the 1921, 1927, 1927-S, 1928, and 1934 all have lower mintages, the 1934-S is the undisputed king of the Peace dollar series in Mint State. Unlike most other dates in this series, the 1934-S was a heavily circulated issue that was actively placed into circulation throughout the 1930s. As such, the San Francisco Mint had few bags of Uncirculated '34-S Peace dollars to distribute to dealers and collectors in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Unfortunately, even fewer people appreciated the true rarity of this issue at this time. Today, however, nothing could be further from the truth.
This is a stunning Peace dollar that would be among the finest certified survivors of any issue in this popular series. There is not a single abrasion of consequence on either side, and only the obverse displays a few wispy, inconspicuous water stains. The outward appearance is one of satiny brilliance and the highpoints are uncommonly well defined for a product of the San Francisco Mint. A coin that is unsurpassable in terms of both technical and aesthetic merit. Population: 18 in 66, 0 finer (2/06).
