Challenging 1934-S Peace Dollar, MS65

1934-S $1 MS65 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint began production of silver dollars on November 1, 1934, accounting for the small mintage of just over 1 million pieces. Roger Burdette believes the 1934-S is the most difficult issue of the series to locate in Mint State grades, and should "form the cornerstone of a Peace dollar collection." The present coin is lustrous and well struck, with some typical flatness on Liberty's hair and ears. The surfaces are covered with attractive lavender patina, with spots of darker color at the periphery.(Registry values: N2998)
