Description

1934-S Peace Dollar, MS66
Well-Struck and Luminous
Among the Finest at PCGS

1934-S $1 MS66 PCGS. The 1934-S is famously the most elusive Peace dollar in Mint State overall, at least in terms of numbers known. The Mint State population is dispersed through the MS61 to MS66 range primarily, although examples in the MS62 to MS65 range are most often seen. These coins make frequent auction appearances, as is usually the case with better-date issues.

The current 1934-S is in the finest numeric grade achieved at PCGS, MS66, where only a handful of Plus-designated pieces are known finer (3/25). We have seen a few dozen different coins in this grade, but the current piece is appearing for the first time in our auctions. It displays frosty cartwheel luster devoid of bothersome abrasions, with the faintest hint of light champagne color. Eye appeal is outstanding for the grade and issue. Population: 48 in 66 (9 in 66+), 0 finer (3/25).(Registry values: N4719)
