Republic Silver Pattern 8 Reales 1826-JM Lima, type of KM142.1, Guttag Collection 4337B (this coin), Fonrobert Collection 9015, small Libertad, plain edge, 28.92 grams. Choice AU, lightly toned with semi-prooflike surfaces. The fields display some light marks. Extremely rare and important pattern struck to introduce the new coinage for the fledgling Republic of Peru. To the best of our knowledge, this is only the second piece known of the 1826 Pattern, and this is the Sellschopp Collection example, Swiss Bank Corp 1988, lot 1163.Auction Info
