Description

1904-S Philippines Peso MS65 PCGS. Ocean-blue toning graces the obverse, with a peripheral blush of fire-red and sun-gold patina. The reverse exhibits rich magenta, peach, and cobalt-blue shades. Lustrous and well struck with a smooth reverse and a few wispy grazes on the left obverse field. Despite a generous mintage, the 1904-S peso is surprisingly rare in MS64 or better grades. At the MS65 level, PCGS (as of 11/21) has certified just two pieces, the present lot and another example as MS65+. None have been graded finer. At NGC, the single finest grades MS65. Given the luxurious toning on both sides, it is a safe bet that none are more attractive than the present coin.
