Near-mint Gold Wilson Dollar 1920

USA Administration gold Wilson Dollar 1920,
KM-X11b, HK-1031, Basso-128 (silver, unlisted in gold), AU55 PCGS. Struck to celebrating the opening of the Manila mint during the administration of President Woodrow Wilson, on July 16, 1920 in Manila, Philippines. This was the only branch mint ever opened outside the continental United States. A so-called Dollar, collected both by Phillipines collectors and by United States coins and Dollar enthusiasts, this incredibly rare issue represents a unique opportunity. A total of 5 pieces were supposedly struck, of which one was give to President Wilson, and one to U.S. Secretary of War David Houston. The three remaining pieces were kept in the Philippines. Green-gold patina, with the slightest bit of rubbing on the highpoints. A splendid example of this extremely rare, and historical, medal. This example appears to be only slightly lesser quality than the MS61 example sold in our 2008 Baltimore U.S. Coin Signature Auction, Lot 2151, realizing $74,750.00.
