Description
Incredible Bonded Pair Mint Error 'Solidarity' Piece
People's Republic silver Mint Error - Bonded Pair "Solidarity"
100000 Zlotych 1990 MS67 NGC, Warsaw mint, cf. KM-Y196.1 (for
standard type), Fischer-OB122, Parchimowicz-619. 53mm. Known as
subtype A with L below date, flat top in S of Solidarity, and space
between Ł and 1 of denomination. A dramatic and visually arresting
mint error, the selection at hand presents two coins irrevocably
fused together into a double-weight piece, creating a form of
broken beauty rarely encountered with such clarity. The surfaces
display sublime patination, further emphasizing the coin's
unexpected contours and preserved metal flow, while the astounding
technical grade underscores its virtually pristine appearance.
Among the seldom-seen mint errors of this type, this is
unquestionably the most spectacular example the current cataloger
has witnessed. The Solidarity movement, founded in 1980 at the Gdańsk Shipyard under the leadership of Lech Wałęsa, was the first independent labor union in a Soviet-bloc country and became a driving force for democratic change in Poland. By 1990, it had played a central role in dismantling communist rule, marking a pivotal moment in the broader collapse of Eastern European authoritarian regimes.
