    Description

Stellar 1897 Barber Dime, Proof 68 Cameo ★ NGC

1897 10C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. Only 731 proofs were coined in 1897 and this is one of the finest remaining. This coin combines frosty devices with shimmering, reflective fields beneath a moderate endowment of original peripheral toning. Mixed shades of golden-brown, cobalt-blue, and crimson at the borders gradually lighten to a silver appearance at the centers. Current (11/04) combined population figures of both services list only 5 pieces in PR68 with none finer. Highly desirable as a fully original, stellar representative of Charles Barber's Dime.(#84881) (Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23GA, PCGS# 84881)

    Weight: 2.49 grams
