The Eliasberg Gem Proof 1898 Barber Dime

1898 10C PR68 NGC. Ex: Eliasberg/Hugon. The beauty of this coin is best understood in person, as the centers glow with coppery-gold framed by peripheral blue, perfectly matched and balanced on each side. Deeply mirrored fields are undisturbed by signs of contact or similar distractions. Liberty's cheek is utterly perfect, as is the neck and the reverse wreath. NGC and PCGS have graded a combined 9 coins of this date in this stellar grade, but neither service has graded any higher (10/04). Certainly a candidate for the most attractive of this date and further enhanced by a pedigree which dates from the month that it was coined.

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
