1898 Dime, Beautifully Toned PR68
The Single Finest Non-Cameo at PCGS
1898 10C PR68 PCGS. CAC. This is the sole finest non-Cameo
proof 1898 Barber dime at PCGS (6/17). We previously handled
another PCGS coin in this grade back in our August 2007 ANA
Signature sale, which realized nearly $11,000. However, that coin
is no longer in a PCGS non-Cameo holder, leaving this old-time
example as the finest in that category. This piece is beautifully
toned with rose-gold borders and aquamarine interiors. Both sides
exhibit appreciable field-motif contrast despite the patina. We
observe no shortcomings in either strike or preservation. Housed in
