Captivating 1911 PR69 ★ Dime
The Finest Known

1911 10C PR69 ★ NGC. The 1911 dime saw 543 coins minted in proof format, one of the lowest in the Barber dime proof series. Perusal of the NGC/PCGS population reports indicates that a fair number of these proofs have apparently survived to the present day. The two services have certified more than 400 examples, ranging from the PR60 to PR69 levels of preservation. A mere four of these pieces have been assigned NGC's coveted Star designation--two PR67 specimens, one PR68 coin, and the present PR69 example.
The captivating eye appeal of the current offering confirms its rating as the finest certified 1911 proof dime. A gorgeous medley of cobalt-blue, purple, golden-brown, and powder-blue patination occupies the borders, ceding to silver-gray in the centers. An attentive strike leaves complete delineation on the design elements, further enhancing the coin's remarkable beauty. These elements are covered with mint frost, and stand out amidst the mirrored fields, irrespective of the angle at which the coin is observed. Both sides are immaculately preserved, revealing no mentionable contact marks.
This breathtaking specimen is sure to capture the attention of advanced Barber dime collectors, as well as those who simply delight in the beauty of high-quality proof coinage. Near-pristine proof coins that exude the attributes and aesthetic appeal such as this one does are rarely encountered in the numismatic marketplace.
