Description

1892 Half Dollar, PR67
Eye-Catching Inaugural Year Proof

1892 50C PR67 PCGS. CAC. This boldly toned first-year proof displays patchwork blue-violet, peach, and silver patina on the obverse, plus deep-cool shades that flow into each other on the reverse. Strongly reflective fields glisten under the toning, with mild but appreciable obverse contrast. A record proof mintage kicked off the Barber series but few Gem or finer proof half dollars survive, a legacy of many proofs falling into non-numismatic hands. Superb Gems such as this example are rare. Population: 16 in 67 (2 in 67+), 4 finer (9/21).(Registry values: N4719)
