Description

1894 Barber Half, PR66
Exceptional Mirrors and Color

1894 50C PR66 PCGS. CAC. The deep-mirrored fields contrast boldly with frosted devices, although not to the extent that PCGS granted the Cameo designation. Rather, this exceptional proof stands out for its impressive color and vibrant reflectivity. The patination is reminiscent of a richly toned copper kettle, with green, blue, and purple edges surrounding fire-red and copper-orange surfaces. The reverse is likewise deeply patinated, with golden margins framing a green, violet, and blue center. The coin is boldly detailed except at the right shield corner and wing junction. Population: 27 in 66, 10 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24NW, PCGS# 6541, Greysheet# 6633)
