Description

1896 Barber Half, PR67+
Only Two Finer Coins at PCGS

1896 50C PR67+ PCGS. CAC. The 1896 proof Barber half dollar, with a reported mintage of 762 pieces, shows enhanced desirability because of the low circulation strike mintage of just 950,000 coins. This high-end Superb Gem example displays reflective luster throughout both sides, with about equal portions of pastel light blue and pinkish-gold. The eye appeal is excellent, and there are no obvious surface marks. A touch of incomplete detail appears at the upper-right shield corner, but the design elements are sharply detailed elsewhere. Population: 9 in 67 (1 in 67+), 2 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24NY, PCGS# 6543, Greysheet# 6639)
