Multicolor PR68 1896 Half Dollar

1896 50C PR68 NGC. CAC. Peach-gold and sea-green shades adorn the obverse margin and dominate the reverse, where they are joined by ruby-red, powder-blue, and lemon-gold tints. A magnificently patinated representative of the proof Barber design. Careful perusal beneath a loupe fails to locate any imperfections. The strike is full on the fletchings and shows minor inexactness only near the right shield corner. Just 762 proofs were struck. Housed in a former generation holder. Census: 6 in 68, 2 in 68 Cameo, 1 in 68 Ultra Cameo, none finer (12/12).(Registry values: N4719)
