1897 Half Dollar, PR67+ Deep Cameo
Sharp and Contrasted Type Coin

1897 50C PR67+ Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1897 was a well-made issue in the proof Barber half dollar series, and a number of pieces were carefully preserved via original proof sets. Those sets were purchased by contemporary collectors who often put the coins away for many years. As a result, Deep Cameo Superb Gems are occasionally available, albeit for a price. This Plus-designated, CAC-endorsed proof displays full sharpness throughout frosty devices, with liquidlike mirroring in the fields. A hint of light golden toning graces each side, and no distracting blemishes are seen. PCGS Population: 17 in 67 (5 in 67+) Deep Cameo, 6 finer. CAC: 8 in 67, 6 finer (3/26).(Registry values: N4719)
