Magnificent 1898 Half Dollar
PR67 Ultra Cameo
1898 50C PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. A total of 735 half dollars
were produced in proof format in 1898. A review of NGC and PCGS
population data indicates that approximately 400 non cameo examples
have been certified, along with about 115 Cameos, and fewer than 30
Ultra/Deep Cameos. A number of these coins are likely
resubmissions.This magnificent Superb Gem Ultra Cameo specimen displays a virtual white-on-black appearance, as the frosted motifs seems to be suspended above the deep watery fields. A precise strike imparts bold delineation to the design features, enhancing even more the field-device contrast. Untoned surfaces are impeccably preserved. Census: 7 in 67 Ultra Cameo, 4 finer (11/08).(Registry values: P1)
