Description
1902 Barber Half, PR67 Cameo
Memorable Visual Allure
1902 50C PR67 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The brilliant obverse center
shows wide bands of rich fire-red, mauve, and apple-green color,
while the reverse is a star-spangled display of cobalt-blue and
reddish-gold, with a silver-white center. The strike is razor-sharp
on the frosted devices, contrasting with pristine, glassy-mirrored
fields. Only 777 proofs were struck. The present CAC-endorsed Superb Gem is housed in a previous generation blue-label holder (before the advent of Plus-grading), and it is one of five PR67 Cameo coins at PCGS. NGC has seen no PR67 Cameo proofs, but reports one finer PR68 Cameo example. No Deep or Ultra Cameo pieces have been encapsulated in any grade by either service. Population: 5 in 67 (1 in 67+) Cameo, 0 finer (9/15).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2005), lot 4118; ANA Signature (Heritage, 3/2008), lot 728.
