Description

Sharply Contrasted 1911 Half
PR65 Cameo

1911 50C PR65 Cameo PCGS. The 1911 is notable for a low emission of proofs with only 543 pieces struck. But it is also generally unavailable in high grades and with cameo contrast. This is a strongly contrasted example that displays deeply mirrored fields and noticeably frosted devices. Each side is well balanced in overall appearance and there is just a hint of light golden toning around the margins of this otherwise brilliant coin. A shallow strike-through is noted in the field above the A in DOLLAR. Population: 11 in 65 Cameo, 14 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)
