Unsurpassable PR68 Cameo 1892 Barber Quarter

1892 25C PR68 Cameo NGC. Type Two Reverse. This reverse hub is by far the more common for both the business strike and proof 1892 Barber Quarters. The latter issue's original mintage of 1,245 pieces is the highest in the proof Barber Quarter series. Combined with the fact that this first-year issue was well preserved by both numismatists and the non-collecting public at the time, it should come as no surprise that the proof 1892 is the most common coin of its type. For the discerning specialist, we are pleased to be offering a Superb Gem that is certainly not common from the standpoint of surface preservation. This is a simply beautiful coin to behold whose mostly untoned surfaces display a shimmering silver-white sheen. There is some light iridescence over the right reverse, but the dominant feature on both sides is the stark contrast between thickly frosted devices and seemingly bottomless fields. There is not a single distracting blemish, as one should expect for the PR68 level of preservation. NGC reports two 1892 Quarters in PR68 Cameo, and none finer with this finish. PCGS has yet to certify a single cameo specimen above the PR67 level (10/02).

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
