Description

1893 Barber Quarter, PR66
Attractive High-Grade Striking

1893 25C PR66 NGC. CAC. There were far fewer proofs struck in 1893 than the previous year, but apparently quite a substantial percentage of the mintage was preserved, many in high grade. This is an intriguing coin. Each side has just the slightest hint of pinkish patina. The fields show nice reflectivity, and it appears the mint frost is sufficiently thick for a Cameo designation -- but obviously NGC did not agree. A high-grade example of this popular early Barber quarter. Census: 53 in 66, 28 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N2998)
