    Description

    1893 Barber Quarter, Richly Toned PR68 ★
Sole Star Coin at This Grade Level

1893 25C PR68 ★ NGC. CAC. This exceptional proof displays slightly deeper toning on the reverse than on the obverse, with the overall appeal of a coin from an old-time proof set. The mirroring in the fields is sufficiently deep to set off cameo contrast against the central obverse device, but the depth of color on the reverse makes this effect less obvious. Pale rose and patches of deeper blue are seen on the obverse, while the reverse displays deeper shades of the same rose color in the center and blue around the margin. As indicated by the staggeringly high grade, the surfaces are essentially perfect. Census: 8 in 68 (1 in 68 ), 2 finer. CAC: 3 in 68, 0 finer (10/16).(Registry values: N4719)
