Description
Superb Brilliant Cameo Proof 1893 Quarter
1893 25C PR68 Cameo PCGS. The frosty devices offer obvious frosty contrast with the deeply mirrored fields. This fully struck Superb Gem has a seemingly pristine obverse, and the reverse is nearly as well preserved. Both sides present essentially as completely untoned, although the reverse field has just a hint of pale lemon color. The production of proofs fell substantially from the 1,245 pieces struck in 1892, the first year of the series. Apparently, collector interest in the new design was subdued by 1893, as only 792 pieces were issued. Simply stunning quality and eye appeal for a proof Barber Quarter. PCGS population: 2 in 68, none finer at either service (1/05).From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set.(#85679) (Registry values: N4719)
