Description

1895 Quarter Dollar, PR68 Cameo
Sharply Struck Example

1895 25C PR68 Cameo NGC. The Philadelphia Mint produced some of its best proof coinage in the 1890s, and this sharply struck quarter stands head and shoulders above a strong class. The obverse stars reveal pinpoint definition with deeply impressed centers, while the reverse exhibits articulated lines within the feathers and tail. A single lint mark is neatly hidden within the outline of the cheek, and the white-on-black devices and fields fully qualify for the Cameo designation. Census: 16 in 68 Cameo (4 in 68★ ), 1 finer (4/24).
