    Description

    Breathtaking PR68 1897 Barber Quarter

1897 25C PR68 NGC. This is an absolutely breathtaking example of this proof issue, one that appears fully to merit a Cameo designation. Deeply mirrored, silvery fields show just a suggestion of heather, gold, and lilac, with thick mint frost on the devices. Although a handful of PR68 1897 quarters exist--nine at both services, to be precise--there are none finer certified, and it is difficult to imagine a more pleasing example anyway. A couple of hair-thin luster grazes on Liberty's chin will serve as pedigree markers, since they are completely undistracting. Census: 7 in 68, 0 finer (1/08).
