    Description

    Superb Cameo 1898 Barber Quarter

1898 25C PR67 Cameo NGC. The 1898 and 1896 are low-attrition dates in the Barber series and dates that are often used for type purposes, not only because of their availability but also because of the superior care initially taken by the mint in the production of these proofs. This is an especially well-preserved coin that shows strong field-to-device contrast on each side. The reverse is almost brilliant, the only exception being a light golden accent on the rim. The reverse is light in the center but deepens quickly to a rich rose and then cobalt blue around the margins. Census: 21 in 67, 9 finer (11/07).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242D, PCGS# 85684)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
