    1898 Quarter, PR68 Cameo
    Exceptional Quality and Eye Appeal

1898 25C PR68 Cameo NGC. This exceptional PR68 Cameo quarter shows soft champagne and pale lavender centers, deepening to indigo, ocean-blue, mint-green, and orange-gold around the peripheries. The strike is full, and the design elements exhibit ample contrast, even through the delicate patina.

Population Data (9/15): NGC lists nine in PR68 Cameo (one PR68 Cameo) and two finer. PCGS reports two in PR68 Cameo and also two finer.

Heritage Commentary: The 1898 quarter is a significant condition rarity at the PR68 grade level, with or without cameo contrast, but Cameo and Ultra Cameo representatives have always held much higher esteem among collectors than have their less-contrasted counterparts.

Provenance: Purchased from Pinnacle Rarities (7/2000).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242D, PCGS# 85684)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
