    1898 Quarter, Toned PR68
    Stark Cameo Obverse

1898 25C PR68 PCGS. Tied for the finest non-Cameo at PCGS. The strike is needle-sharp, and the preservation is immaculate. The obverse is starkly contrasted beneath light golden toning with the faint remnant of a print on Liberty's neck. The reverse is deeply toned in lavender-gray, gold, and amber hues that preclude field-device contrast. The 1898 proof is rarely seen this fine. Population: 5 in 68, 0 finer (1/17).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242D, PCGS# 5684)
