Description
Technically Perfect 1898 Proof Barber Quarter--Graded PR 69
1898 PR 69 PCGS. A flawless, cameo proof Barber quarter. Close inspection with a magnifier shows there are no flaws, mint caused or otherwise, on the surfaces of this coin. The head of Liberty is well frosted on the obverse and contrasts sharply against the illimitible depth of mirrored reflectivity in the fields. A light golden-brown layer of patina is spread over the front side of the coin with slightly deeper coloration toward the rims. The reverse presents a startling contrast to the obverse, as that side is evenly toned a deep blue-green with a faint, underlying rose patina. Among the 3,447 proof Barber quarters certified by PCGS, this is the finest according to the May Population Report. This peerless type coin will undoubtedly be subjected to close scrutiny at lot viewing, and the price it realizes on the auction floor will reflect the unsurpassable quality it represents.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242D, PCGS# 5684, GSID# 5480)
