    Description

    1899 Barber Quarter, PR66 Cameo
    Exemplary Strike, Nice Contrast

1899 25C PR66 Cameo NGC. The proof mintage of Barber quarters was a generous 846 pieces in 1899, but many examples were mishandled or spent for face value in later years. Examples in Premium Gem condition, with Cameo contrast, are quite rare today. The coin offered here exhibits fully detailed frosty devices that contrast dramatically with the brightly mirrored fields. A few wisps of golden toning are evident on both sides. Census: 13 in 66 Cameo, 13 finer (2/11).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242E, PCGS# 85685)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
