    1900 Quarter, Cameo PR67
    Sharply Contrasted

1900 25C PR67 Cameo NGC. A gorgeous specimen of this turn-of-the-century issue, among the last before the Mint converted to the all brilliant method of proof, to be followed by the matte era of U.S. proof coinage. It wouldn't be until the mid-1950s that contrasted proofs were made again. (Some were made from 1936-42 and in the early 1950s, but it was more an accident of the use of new dies rather than an attempt to make a quality product.) The rich frost on this piece against the the boldly impressed central devices is undimmed by the dappled gold, rose, and blue-green color across each side. Profoundly mirrored and beautiful. Census: 14 in 67 Cameo, 3 finer (11/11).
