    Description

    1902 Quarter, PR68
    Lightly Contrasted, Richly Toned

1902 25C PR68 NGC. The year 1902 marks a significant turning-point in the finish the U.S. Mint produced on silver proofs, switching from a contrast-emphasizing style to a more uniformly brilliant effect. Even so, many specimens from that year show some level of cameo effect, even if it does not rise to the level required for the Cameo designation. This is one such coin, delicately frosted on central devices with intense aqua, blue, violet, and gold-orange patina wrapping around the peripheries, covering more of the obverse than the reverse. Underlying mirrors remain strong.(Registry values: N4719)
