    Description

    1903 Quarter, Snow-White PR68 Deep Cameo

1903 25C PR68 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. The numismatic debate over "toned versus untoned" is one that will likely never cease, as long as collectors collect. This piece is a fully brilliant, snow-white example for the collectors in the "untoned" camp. The surface preservation is remarkable, as this PR68 Deep Cameo is tied for the finest certified at PCGS with one other coin (or perhaps one other submission). There are no visible blemishes or other distractions on either side. The mint frost is rich and deep, with a razor-sharp strike and marked field-device contrast. The contrast in itself it unusual, as the Mint in 1902 switched to a low-contrast format, making Deep Cameo coins such as this one fortunate accidents rather than purposeful goals.
