    Description

1905 25C PR65 NGC. This Gem proof quarter displays an unusual amount of cameo contrast although it is not designated on the holder. Since the Mint was in a period of issuing brilliant, all-reflective proofs, bold contrast is seldom seen for the 1905 silver issues. Glassy-mirrored fields surround the frosted devices, with a faint sheen of lemon-gold toning that touches the brilliant-silver surfaces and deepens at the borders. A full strike includes sharp details on the eagle's shield, wing junction, and talons. Census: 53 in 65, 63 finer (8/16).
