    1908 Quarter, PR67
    Beautifully Toned
    From the Childs Collection

1908 25C PR67 PCGS. CAC. Ex: The Childs Collection. This Superb Gem proof is sharply struck, displaying deeply mirrored fields and carefully preserved surfaces. The reverse shows noticeable cameo contrast with tinges of amber and blue around the borders, although the obverse is too deeply toned in shades of rose-gold, violet, and royal-blue to qualify for the designation.

Population Data (9/15): PCGS records 16 grading events in PR67 (one PR67+) and six PR68 finer. NGC accounts for has seen 23 pieces in PR67 (three PR67 ), also with six PR68 (two PR68 ★ ) finer.

Heritage Commentary: The proof 1908 quarter had a limited mintage of just 545 pieces, continuing a trend of low-mintage proof issues that would endure until the end of the series. Superb Gem examples are elusive, with or without cameo contrast. Gene Gardner owned two examples of this issue, the other a PR68 PCGS example.

Provenance: Possibly acquired directly from the Mint by C.F. Childs; Walter H. Childs Collection (Bowers and Merena, 8/1999), lot 304.(Registry values: N2998)
