    1908 Quarter, Delicately Toned PR68 ★
Second Finest Cameo Certified of the Date

1908 25C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. Proof 1908 quarters only had an output of 545 coins. Among those a tiny percentage are Cameo, and an even smaller number are Cameo and in high grade. This is another astounding Newman type coin. Bright bands of multicolored toning are seen around both sides with strongly mirrored fields that enliven the coloration. The surfaces appear perfect, and the devices are obviously frosted even beneath the rich colors that cover both obverse and reverse. This is the only PR68 quarter of this issue certified by NGC, and it also is a Star coin. There is one piece graded finer (10/13).

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
