    Sole Finest Certified 1909 Quarter
    PR68 Cameo

1909 25C PR68 Cameo NGC. The 1909 Barber coins, dime, quarter, and half, each saw a proof mintage of only 650 pieces, at a time when collector interest in the three series was minimal -- as was the field-device contrast on most examples. This PR68 Cameo example is sharply struck with watery, jet-black fields and nicely frosted snow-white devices. The stark cameo contrast on both sides is compelling. A loupe reveals pristine surface preservation and only serves to increase one's admiration of this coin. This piece is the sole finest certified at either NGC or PCGS (8/12).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2007), lot 3249, which brought $10,925; St. Louis Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2007), which realized $13,800.
