    Description

Magnificently Preserved 1909 Quarter, Proof 68 NGC

1909 25C PR68 NGC. Ex: Hugon Collection. Rich navy-blue, crimson-lilac, purple, and honey-gold colors illuminate this razor-sharp Superb Gem. The vividly toned and deeply reflective fields do not reveal the slightest blemish, even upon thorough inspection with a loupe. To put the low mintage of 650 pieces into perspective, it is nearly the same production as the Octagonal 1915-S Panama-Pacific commemorative that sells for tens of thousands of dollars in Mint State. While the 1909 proof Barber Quarter will never achieve similar popularity, its rarity in high grades is irrefutable. This will remain as one of the finest pieces known. Census: 9 in 68, 0 finer (11/05).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 242R, PCGS# 5695)

    Weight: 6.25 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
