    Breathtaking 1910 PR68 ★ Cameo Quarter

1910 25C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. From an original low mintage of 551 pieces, 51 1910 quarters have been designated as Cameos by NGC. Only four of these coins have attained the PR68 grade, with just two pieces finer. Of the four PR68 Cameos, three are assigned the coveted Star, including the example we offer in the present lot. The frosted motifs and deeply mirrored fields of this stunning coin yield a virtual white-on-black appearance when it is viewed head-on from a direct angle. Essentially untoned surfaces possess pristine quality, revealing no mentionable contact marks or other blemishes. The strike is nearly unimprovable, with all elements well brought up. Only the eagle's left (right facing) talon and adjacent arrow feathers reveal some minor softness. The connoisseur of Barber quarter proofs need look no further, as it is unlikely he/she will encounter as beautiful a specimen as this.(Registry values: N4719)
