Description

A 1910 Barber Quarter Proof Without Equal

1910 PR 67 PCGS. This piece has reached this pinnacle of perfection because of an unusual combination of superb quality and exceptional color. Both sides are deeply mirrored and essentially flawless. Close examination with a glass fails to reveal any surface imperfections, marks, or hairlines. The viewer's frustration at finding a flaw on this coin turns to an immense respect for its remarkable state of preservation. And then there's the color. Virtually every hue of the rainbow appears on this coin, in a dramatic blend and configuration. The left side of the obverse is mostly light green in color, while the right side is a variegated blend of burnt-gold, red, and blue. The reverse presents a kaleidoscope of iridescent colors, including green, gold, blue, and red. This piece was obviously well cared for and remains one of the finest survivors out of the original mintage of 551 proofs. Even in the rarefied atmosphere of the MS 67 level, this coin is without equal.
