    1911 Barber Quarter, PR68 Cameo
    None Finer at PCGS

1911 25C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1911 proof quarter is ranked 3rd lowest of 24 issues in the Barber series in terms of mintage, with a meager production total of 543 pieces. The date is more available than its limited mintage would suggest, however. Walter Breen speculates the date may have been hoarded in the past. Still, examples in PR68 condition are very rare.

This lovely example displays strong cameo contrast in spite of the considerable tonal qualities that are present. The obverse is nearly brilliant at the top with bands of rose, champagne-gold, and cobalt-blue below. The reverse has a light, almost untoned center that is surrounded by the same rose, golden, and blue toning in concentric circles. Close examination with a loupe fails to reveal any surface imperfections. Population: 5 in 68 Cameo, 0 finer (9/13).(Registry values: N4719)
