    PR68 Toned 1911 Barber Quarter

1911 25C PR68 NGC. Once the higher grade thresholds are attained, the aesthetics of a coin advance it--or not--to the near-ultimate grade level. Such is the case with this Superb Gem, majestically toned proof representative. Rich iridescent shades of aquamarine, amber, and magenta blanket the obverse, with a dash of gold at the reverse rims and brilliant area at the center. Memorable color and quality. Diligent scrutiny with a loupe fails to reveal any strike weakness, even at that pesky eagle's claw or the right shield corner. While NGC has graded one specimen finer of this issue, it is doubtful that it could be more beautiful. Census: 12 in 68, 1 finer (3/06).(Registry values: N4719)
