    Description

    1912 Quarter, Beautifully Toned PR68
    Cameo Contrast, Immeasurable Eye Appeal

1912 25C PR68 NGC. CAC. The 1912 proof is a great rarity at the PR68 level, with or without Cameo qualities. Housed in a prior generation NGC slab, this colorfully toned, old-time example is not designated a Cameo but nonetheless showcases stark field-motif contrast on both sides. The iridescent surfaces yield many colors, although sun-gold, violet, forest-green, and mint are the most prominent. Slight strike weakness is seen on the eagle's right (facing) talons and wing junction. CAC has awarded green labels to four pieces in this grade and none finer. Census: 5 in 68, 1 finer (2/16).
