Description

1915 Quarter, PR67
Final Proof Barber Issue

1915 25C PR67 PCGS. CAC. Though delays with Hermon MacNeil's novel Standing Liberty quarter design pushed production of business-strike Barber quarters into 1916, the proof mintages stopped in 1915 with an issue of only 450 pieces -- not a record low for the series, as 1914 had seen just 380 proof Barber quarters struck, but a depressed figure nonetheless. This minimally contrasted yet compelling Superb Gem specimen has watery mirrors beneath rich patina, blue-violet at the interiors with a fade through to aqua and emerald edges. Magnificently preserved and rare this fine. Population: 16 in 67 (8 in 67+), 2 finer. CAC: 10 in 67, 3 finer (7/24).
