Original Proof 1841 Half Cent, A Red and Brown Near-Gem

1841 1/2 C Original PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Breen 1-A, R.6. Die State III. The die crack that passes through stars 3, 4, 5, and 6 is remarkably heavy for a proof striking. Nevertheless, the fields are deeply reflective and the rims wide and squared off on both obverse and reverse. The reverse is especially fiery and nearly full red, while the obverse displays considerable muted blue-gray patina. Struck with pinpoint definition, there are only a few tiny flecks of carbon present and no mentionable contact marks. EAC PR60.(Registry values: P2)
