    Elusive 1841 Half Cent Original, PR65 Red and Brown

    1841 1/2 C Original PR65 Red and Brown NGC. The customary die crack is light on this Gem example. Significant original copper-red remains on the surfaces, though blue-brown and spots of chocolate-brown are also evident. Breen cites evidence that approximately 24 originals of this issue survive, with several in museums and at least two worn. EAC PR63. Census: 2 in 65 Red and Brown, 0 finer (10/06).
