    Description

Beautiful Iridescently Toned Gem 1846 Second Restrike Half Cent

1846 1/2 C Restrike PR63 Brown NGC. Second Restrike. Breen-3, R.6. Recognized as a Second Restrike by the Small Berries reverse and the die file marks over RICA in AMERICA. The 1846 is one of the scarcer proof half cents from the 1840s. While labeled as a Brown coin, this is a lovely piece that shows strong iridescence in the fields on each side with strongly reflective mirrors that bring out that multicolored patina. Fully detailed on each side with the broad rims that are only seen on proofs. There are no reportable contact marks on either side of this magnificent copper coin, a denomination that is rarely seen in proof format. Census: 1 in 63, 4 finer (1/07). EAC 60.(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 26ZF, PCGS# 1287)
